Message from the Chair
Thank you for your interest in the MIS Department. We are glad that you have taken the time to browse our site and find out about the exciting opportunities that we offer.
Computer-related majors are on the rise this year, and the job outlook for IT majors is growing for the first time in five years. The National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE) reports that employers expect to hire 13.1% more new college grads from this school year than the last. We are excited to be a part of such growth, and we are making sure that our students are well prepared to perform with excellence and integrity. In keeping with our Mission values of Knowledge and Association, we are preparing our students to contribute not only in their professions, but also within their communities.
In a market as dynamic as the IT industry, it is imperative that students mix critical thinking skills with hands-on learning experiences. We renewed our curriculum this year to do just that. Students are now able to manage a project through different phases to gain hands-on experience and build on skills learned in each course. Students are able to learn through simulation/project work, and will have a complete portfolio of projects to present to their prospective employer upon graduation.
We offer opportunities for students to experience international environments worldwide by participating in both long and short term study abroad excursions. Some of the destinations we travel to include India, Europe, China, Ireland and Mexico.
Students can even pursue and tailor an internship to their own specific interests, and receive academic credit for it. Please take time to browse some of the options we offer in our Internships section.
